Global Acts of Unity Visits Abertay University.

In my hometown of Dundee.

On the 10th of October I took up Abertay University’s invitation to speak with some of the student and staff body. My last invitation in December had to be cancelled due to heavy snowfall.

Unlike the previous date the sun was shining on a beautiful day. We arrived at Abertay to find all organised for the GAU presentation. As the day also coincided with the World Mental Health Day I had been asked by the Abertay management to speak a little on the mental health aspects of the 18 months of my brothers captivity and murder.

Info on Abertay University.

Abertay is a small, modern university based in the centre of Dundee. It is an ambitious, forward-thinking institution which offers degree programmes to prepare students for jobs of the modern world. Graduates go on to work for organisations including Apple, Google, BBC, Rockstar, Microsoft, Barclays Bank, and Coca Cola, as well as the NHS and government departments.

A goodly selection of students and staff took their seats and the session began. Their were some great questions and discussions with the students, some of whom were mature students. The group was quite diverse and there were some challenging aspects to the discussions.

All in all it was a great day and I enjoyed the interaction with the students. I want to thank the university management, especially Graeme Belcher for the considerable help to organise the event. As always the biggest thanks goes to the students and staff at the event. You are the reason I do this work.
